The Power of Dance: Healing and Restoration for Survivors of Abuse and Sexual Exploitation

In the spirit of promoting culture and health, The DC Bachata Congress "The World's Largest Bachata Festival" is hosting a series of workshops on the connection between music and well-being. Please join me for a special presentation on the transformational connection between dance and healing for survivors of abuse and sexual exploitation.

Dance has life-giving power for those who have experienced trauma. Going through situations such as rape, abuse, assault, and human trafficking can train our bodies to dissociate from our emotions, making it difficult to engage in healthy physical activities. Dance can and has been used to bridge this gap, teaching survivors how to reconnect with themselves and others. In a safe environment, dance can be a liberating force that frees us to make healthy connections to experience life in a more empowered, holistic way.

There will be music, poetry, and maybe even a dance performance. You don't want to miss it! See you there!
